Listen to and read the whole 'God damn America' sermon by the Rev. Jeremiah Wright
And here's a nugget that turns the thought that he's simply anti-white on its head: "Long before there was a red, white and blue colonization, the Egyptian government was doing colonization. They colonized half the continent of Africa, they colonized parts of the Mediterranean. All colonizers ain't white. Turn to your neighbor and say "oppressors come in all colors." Hello, hello, hello."

The rise and fall and rise of the budget deficit
The federal deficit is now 17% higher than it was at the end of the last fiscal year, according to figures the Treasury Department released this week — but that just begins to tell the story of all the red ink we've been building up. Here's how the deficits have grown, shrunk, and grown again over the last 58 years.
The ACA has helped, not hurt, the health care industry
Winners: Health insurers. The stock price of Centene, a major Medicaid and ACA marketplace insurer, has multiplied by 12 times or 1,100%. Shares of UnitedHealth Group have jumped by more than 700%.
Insurers weathered cuts to Medicare Advantage and new requirements forcing them to cover sick people, but in return they got millions of taxpayer-subsidized customers through Medicaid expansion and the individual marketplaces.
Wall Street analysts say investors and companies were afraid the ACA was going to hurt the profitability of employer plans and Medicare Advantage. That never happened.

Gowdy: Trump advisers should consider quitting over Russia
House Oversight Chairman Trey Gowdy chastised Donald Trump for inviting Russian President Vladimir Putin to Washington, saying Sunday that some members of the president's administration should consider quitting if Trump won't listen to their advice.
“The fact that we have to talk to you about Syria or other matters is very different from issuing an invitation,” Gowdy said on “Fox News Sunday” of the Putin invitation, which the White House confirmed last week would be extended for the fall. “Those should be reserved for, I think, our allies.”

The Charlottesville protests are white fragility in action - Vox
The Charlottesville protests are white fragility in action - Vox: "A lot of white men are marching in Charlottesville, Virginia, this weekend, chanting slogans like “white lives matter” and “you will not replace us.” The rally suggests that white men are the real victims of the American political climate, due to plans to tear down Confederate monuments — symbols of white supremacy and racism — in the Southern city." Low-tax Texas should pay its fair share of Harvey costs - The Washington Post
Low-tax Texas should pay its fair share of Harvey costs - The Washington Post: "As the floodwaters from Hurricane Harvey recede, the humanitarian need for federal aid to help Texas and its residents is starkly evident. Lots of aid. Right now, or as soon as Congress can approve an appropriation.
Although members of Congress from New York and New Jersey complain about the hypocrisy of Texas requesting federal aid, given the fact that the Texas congressional delegation almost unanimously opposed the federal aid package for Hurricane Sandy in 2012, the grousing amounts to nothing. With the suffering in Texas visible on every news show, America is too good to withhold support as political payback."

On eve of Trump visit, American Legion reaffirms opposition to hate groups: "On Monday, the Legion upheld a resolution it first passed in 1923 denouncing "individuals, groups, or organizations which create or foster racial, religious, or class strife among our people."
Such hate groups are "un-American, a menace to our liberties, and destructive to our fundamental law,” the resolution says."

The radical idea behind Trump’s EPA rollbacks - POLITICO: "The Trump administration isn’t just pushing to dramatically shrink the Environmental Protection Agency, chop a third of its budget and hobble its regulatory powers. It’s also trying to permanently limit the EPA’s mission — while portraying doing so as a return to the agency's roots." 'via Blog this'

Body cam video shows police officer planting drugs, attorneys say - CBS News
Body cam video shows police officer planting drugs, attorneys say - CBS News: "Police are investigating if the officer planted the second set of drugs there or if he was recreating the discovery when his body camera was rolling.
"It's certainly a possibility that we're looking into, to see if the officers, in fact, replaced drugs that they had already discovered to document the discovery with their body-worn cameras on," said Baltimore Police Department Commissioner Kevin Davis." 'via Blog this'
