How Rick Perry Made His Millions
Influence: The Game
How Rick Perry Made His Millions: "Here are some of Perry's more lucrative deals:
In 1993, Perry bought 10 acres of undeveloped land that drew interest from computer magnate Michael Dell, who needed the land to connect his home to sewer lines. In 1995, Dell bought the land from Perry for $465,000, more than triple what Perry had paid for it. Perry maintains that he did not know the land was valuable to Dell when he purchased it."

SUMMARY
Nine Sioux tribes have been locked in a land dispute since 1877, when the government broke a treaty setting aside the Black Hills as part of their reservation. However, there is a chance that the Great Sioux Nation's long struggle to regain its land might reach a conclusion after years of standoff.

Allen West Whitewashes MLK’s Legacy Into Conserative ‘Individual Responsibility’ Message | ThinkProgress
I've noticed this term in conservative media over the past two years. When Glenn Beck did his DC rally. Conservative media started to high jack the 'Message'.
We all can tell they don't read King. ref: Vietnam
There are several times when King speaks of 'Social Justice' (the antisepsis of conservatives) or against war of all types (Beyond Vietnam). That makes West’s (LTC) comments baffling. Last, when Dr. King was killed he was protesting for justice for union rights for two garbage men who were killed in a garbage truck.
Allen West Whitewashes MLK’s Legacy Into Conserative ‘Individual Responsibility’ Message | ThinkProgress: "Dr. King’s message is and always shall be relevant. It is about individual responsibility and accountability to seek the highest good in your life … as a nation seeks its highest good. America can only be as great as the sum of its parts, all parts.
I think that, if Dr. King were to come back and see what has become of the black community, he would be appalled: The exorbitantly high unemployment rate, the second- and third-generation welfare families, the rampant decimation of the inner-city black communities, the incarceration rate of young black men, and the breakdown of the black family would all bring a tear to his eye."

Al-Rahman was killed in the Pakistani tribal region of Waziristan, officials say, and they seem fairly confident they got their man. There are often reports about drone strikes against core al-Qaida leaders, but the terrorists end up surfacing later. That has happened in al-Rahman's case, too, but this time U.S. officials seemed to be pretty sure. They wouldn't say whether they had DNA evidence that last week's attack actually killed him."

Religious Right Millionaire Backed Rick Perry's Career, Paved Texas Conservative Politics With Money
Dr. James Leininger
Texas Gov. Rick Perry is expected to rally Christian conservative leaders in Texas this weekend to discuss strategies for his bid for the Republican presidential nomination. The event will be hosted by Dr. James Leininger, a millionaire Christian right figure who was once the biggest political donor in Texas and an early and crucial benefactor to Perry’s political career.
Leininger is not widely known outside of Texas, but inside the state he is seen as a pioneer of political donations to conservative politicians and causes. The conservative activist made his millions selling hospital beds, and since the 1980s he has pushed a mix of religious right fervor and pro-business activism, which is now reflected in the politics of all major Texas Republican figures, particularly Perry. Since 1989, Leininger, who is worth more than $300 million, and his wife have donated at least $6.9 million to political parties, political action committees and state and federal candidates, according to data obtained by TransparencyData.com, a site run by the Sunlight Foundation, a nonprofit that aims to increase government transparency. He has also created a host of nonprofits, most prominently the Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF), to advance his conservative political agenda.
"James Leininger has been the sugar daddy of the far right in Texas," said Kathy Miller, the president of the Texas Freedom Network, a nonprofit supporting religious freedom and individual liberties in Texas. "He is probably one of the biggest donors to the Republican Party of Texas’ move to far-right extremism."

Governor Robert F. McDonnell: News: "Governor Bob McDonnell has declared a state of emergency in Virginia in preparation for Hurricane Irene, which is anticipated to affect the Commonwealth over the weekend. Depending on the storm's final track, there is the potential for flooding from both rainfall and storm surge in the eastern part of the state. Winds could potentially reach hurricane strength in the Hampton Roads area; tropical storm force winds could extend much further inland. The ultimate impact of Irene on the Commonwealth will be dependent upon the storm's exact track, which continues to be subject to change over the next 48 hours prior to landfall. A slight deviation by Irene to the east or west would have a significant impact on observable weather in the state."

With Neighbors Unaware, Toxic Spill at a BP Plant - The New York Times
With Neighbors Unaware, Toxic Spill at a BP Plant - The New York Times: While the world was focused on the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, a BP refinery here released huge amounts of toxic chemicals into the air that went unnoticed by residents until many saw their children come down with respiratory problems.
For 40 days after a piece of equipment critical to the refinery’s operation broke down, a total of 538,000 pounds of toxic chemicals, including the carcinogen benzene, poured out of the refinery.
Rather than taking the costly step of shutting down the refinery to make repairs, the engineers at the plant diverted gases to a smokestack and tried to burn them off, but hundreds of thousands of pounds still escaped into the air, according to state environmental officials.
...
That final report said the release of chemicals had gone on for 959 hours, until May 16. Among other pollutants, the plant had released 17,000 pounds of benzene; 37,000 pounds of nitrogen oxides, which can cause respiratory problems; and 186,000 pounds of carbon monoxide. Another 262,000 pounds of various volatile organic compounds also escaped.

Flash mob flash robs a Maryland 7-Eleven (VIDEO)
Last Saturday morning at 1:36 A.M. (according to the video time stamp), over two dozen teens stormed a Maryland 7-Eleven convenience store, stole items off the shelves and out of the coolers and left the store within 60 seconds.
The surveillance video shows the suspects casually filing into the store and then grabbing candy, drinks and other items before exiting with same focused calm as when they entered. The event does not appear violent, but the sheer number of like-minded participants does seem intimidating. Whether the mass shoplifting in Maryland can technically be called a flash mob is up for debate.
