Immigrant Surge Rooted in Law to Curb Child Trafficking - NYTimes.com

What!!!  Dubba again!
Immigrant Surge Rooted in Law to Curb Child Trafficking - NYTimes.com: "It was one of the final pieces of legislation signed into law by President George W. Bush, a measure that passed without controversy, along with a pension bill and another one calling for national parks to be commemorated on quarters.

“This is a piece of legislation we’re very proud to sign,” a White House spokesman, Tony Fratto, told reporters on Dec. 23, 2008, as the president put his pen to the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008, named for a 19th-century British abolitionist. “This program has been very effective around the world in trying to stop trafficking in persons.”"

Jobs: Bush's First Term vs. Obama's First Term - Business Insider

Who created more jobs!!  Way to go President Obama!

Jobs: Bush's First Term vs. Obama's First Term - Business Insider: "The left side of the chart shows the first Bush years. The right is Obama's.
The red line represents the trajectory of private sector jobs, while the blue and green lines represent the trajectory of state and local government jobs. All are set at 100 to the beginning, just for the sake of normalizing each number to the same point.
As you can see, under Bush's first term, private sector jobs never got to their start point, while public sector jobs soared.
Under Obama private sector jobs have now easily surpassed the level they were when he started, while public sector employment is way down, with no comeback having yet commenced."

When Mitt Romney Said You Couldn't Change Washington From The Inside

A note to Governor Romney – Stop jumping on the easy looking Obama issues.  They’re a trap.  The BO (Forward) campaign keeps doing it.  Stop falling for it.  First it was the Church mandate - you did the same in Massachusetts.  Second it was the assault weapons ban – you did the same in Massachusetts.  Third it was too many to name..  Now this, “You can’t change DC from the inside!“  Governor, they’ve mined (data mine) everything you’ve said.  Stop falling for the excitable issues.

Obama takes on China, Romney

President Barack Obama took direct aim at China – and Mitt Romney -- on Monday with a World Trade Organization complaint about export subsidies and with stepped up rhetoric attacking Romney’s profiting from companies that shipped jobs to China.

The president announced the complaint at a campaign rally in Ohio, a state where the American auto industry supports one in eight people.

Now, I understand my opponent has been running around Ohio, claiming… he’s going to roll up his sleeves and take the fight to China,” Obama said. “But here’s the thing: his experience has been owning companies that were called ‘pioneers’ in the business of outsourcing jobs to countries like China… Pioneers! Ohio, you can’t stand up to China when all you’ve done is send them our jobs.”

The WTO complaint alleges that China gave up to $1 billion to exporters of autos and auto parts between 2009 and 2011, distorting the market to the detriment of American manufacturers.

OBAMA: The Government Jobs Slayer - Business Insider

OBAMA: The Government Jobs Slayer - Business Insider: "Little known or distributed fact: President Obama is a government job slayer.  That’s right.   When compared to both GW Bush and Bill Clinton, President Obama is absolutely crushing the size of the government workforce.  While Presidents Bush and Clinton added well over 500,000 government jobs during their first terms, President Obama has cut more than 500,000. Obama Spanish language ad blitz aims to wrap up Latino vote - POLITICO.com Print View

Viva Obama!

Obama Spanish language ad blitz aims to wrap up Latino vote - POLITICO.com Print View: "President Barack Obama wants to dominate the Latino vote, and his campaign has orchestrated a Spanish-language ad blitz to make it happen.

Obama’s campaign has spent more than $2 million on Spanish-language television and radio ads since mid-April, according to several sources who track media buys.

That’s on top of the $4 million the pro-Obama super PAC Priorities USA Action and the Service Employees International Union have committed to spending through the summer on Spanish TV and radio ads hitting Romney in Colorado, Nevada and Florida.

In contrast, Mitt Romney has spent about $110,000 on Spanish-language ads during the general election, sources say."

HERE'S THE CRUCIAL TEXT OF THE OBAMACARE RULING - Business Insider

HERE'S THE CRUCIAL TEXT OF THE OBAMACARE RULING - Business Insider: ""Our precedent demonstrates that Congress had the power to impose the exaction in Section 5000A under the taxing power, and that Section 5000A need not be read to do more than impose a tax. This is sufficient to sustain it." "

Americans Say They’re Better Off Since Obama Took Office - Bloomberg

Say What!!!!

Americans Say They’re Better Off Since Obama Took Office - Bloomberg: "A plurality of Americans now say they are better off than they were when President Barack Obama was inaugurated, providing a surprising lift to Obama’s re- election campaign despite troublesome economic news.

Forty-five percent of those surveyed in a Bloomberg National Poll say they are better off than at the beginning of 2009 compared with 36 percent who say they are worse off. In March, poll respondents split almost evenly on that question after having been decidedly negative since the aftermath of the worst recession in seven decades."

Mont. GOP displays bullet-riddled 'Obama outhouse'

Isn’t it really time to say bluntly what all commentators and many citizens are not saying when stories come out about about this supposedly funny motif of some partisans seemingly suggest the assassinations of partisans on the other side in jokes, displays, etc.? Aren’t we inexorably moving to a day when a major figure of either political party is going to be killed because of the continued tolerance and unfettered enabling of this kind of “humor”?

No, don’t call it PC: call it “common sense.” Angry and hyperpartisan minds create things such as this; unhinged minds could be inspired by things such as this. Its latest incarnation comes in a display outhouse marked “Obama Presidential Library” at the Montana Republican convention, TPM reports:

the Daily Caller or the the Daily Heckler

The president of the White House Correspondents' Association has called today's "rude interruption" of President Obama by a Daily Caller reporter "discourteous," but said that the Daily Caller's status as a member for the White House in-town press pool is something that would need to be discussed by the WHCA board, of which she is a member.

"It was discourteous. It's not the way reporters who cover the White House conduct themselves," Caren Bohan, the current WHCA president and White House correspondent for Reuters, told POLITICO today, shortly after DC reporter Neil Munro shouted a question at the President while he was delivering remarks in the White House Rose Garden.

PolitiFact | Chain e-mail accuses Barack Obama of hypocrisy in raid on Osama bin Laden

PolitiFact | Chain e-mail accuses Barack Obama of hypocrisy in raid on Osama bin Laden: ""Short and  sweet…

"OBAMA'S OWN  WORDS TRAP HIM:

"2008: ‘Navy Seal Team 6 is Cheney's private assassination team.’
"2011: ‘I put together Seal Team 6 to take out Bin Laden.’

"2008: ‘Bin Laden is innocent until proven guilty, and must be captured alive and given a fair trial.’
"2011: ‘I authorized Seal Team 6 to kill Bin Laden.’

"2008: ‘Guantanamo is entirely unnecessary, and the detainees should not be interrogated.’
"2011: ‘Vital intelligence was obtained from Guantanamo detainees that led to our locating Bin Laden.’

"I HOPE THIS  GETS SENT AROUND TO PEOPLE WHO CARE ABOUT THE  TRUTH!""

U.S. Added Only 115,000 Jobs in April; Rate Is 8.1%

imageimageimage

The nation’s employers produced a net gain of 115,000 positions, after adding 154,000 in March, the Labor Department said Friday. April’s job growth was less than economists had been predicting.

Mitt Romney, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, immediately seized on the numbers, arguing that the lackluster report demonstrated that President Obama’s stewardship over the economy was lacking. “We should be seeing numbers in the 500,000 jobs created per month,” he said. “This is way, way, way off from what should happen in a normal recovery.”

The White House accentuated the positive in the report, while acknowledging that it fell short of what was needed. “Today’s employment report provides further evidence that the economy is continuing to heal from the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression,” said Alan B. Krueger, chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers, “but much more remains to be done to repair the damage caused by the financial crisis and the deep recession.”

Gun Sales And Gun Stocks Are Going Nuts As Obama's Re-Election Odds Improve

trigger of a gun

We'd heard a few times lately that the gun stocks (mostly Ruger and Smith & Wesson) had been surging lately, thanks to strong gun sales, but we have to thank Eddy Elfenbein for alerting us to how extreme the moves have been lately.

Ruger is up 14% from the Wednesday close after the gun company announced that itliterally could not keep up with demand.

Keystone XL start welcomed by Obama - Darren Goode - POLITICO.com

Keystone XL start welcomed by Obama - Darren Goode - POLITICO.com: "President Barack Obama "welcomes" the news that TransCanada will start building the southern portion of the Keystone XL pipeline, even as the White House continues to take shots for not approving the entire 1,700-mile route.

The rapid response from White House spokesman Jay Carney underscores the political sensitivity of the proposed pipeline and Obama's balancing act. The White House is trying not to anger its liberal base by approving the pipeline, but at the same time is publicly saying TransCanada should keep working on an alternative route through Nebraska."
