Berkeley Department of Labor. African Americans are 30% more likely to hold government jobs than other workers; from 2008-2010, 21.2% of black workers were employed in the public sector, compared to just 16.3% of non-black workers."

U.S. adds 192K new jobs; unemployment rate dips to 8.9%: "Job growth soared ahead and the unemployment rate fell in February, as the economy gained momentum and people who had been stuck at home because of January snow returned to work.

Employers added 192,000 jobs in February, the Labor Department said Friday. The number closely matched analysts' expectations, accelerating from a revised 63,000 jobs added in January. The unemployment rate edged down to 8.9 percent, from 9 percent."

There is growing concern about the number of veterans who are returning from war without work. Some National Guardsmen who expect to come back to a job find they've been laid off. There's even a bill before Congress calling for more training and more assistance for vets. Javorn Drummond spent almost five years in the army. He served in Iraq and ever since he got back, he's struggled to find his footing. After two years of unemployment, Javorn found himself living in a trailer with no heat or water. He was working at a hog processing plant. But Javorn has recently made a change, he is using his GI Bill to earn a degree.
