Suspicious voter registration forms found in 10 Florida counties - latimes.com

Don't let your right hand know what the left hand is doing.  'Voter ID is the problem' on the back end, again,  massive 'Voter Fraud'.  Way to go republicans.

Suspicious voter registration forms found in 10 Florida counties - latimes.com: "Florida elections officials said Friday that at least 10 counties have identified suspicious and possibly fraudulent voter registration forms turned in by a firm working for the Republican Party of Florida, which has filed an election fraud complaint with the state Division of Elections against its one-time consultant.

The controversy in Florida -- which began with possibly fraudulent forms that first cropped up in Palm Beach County --  has engulfed the Republican National Committee, which admitted Thursday that it urged state parties in seven swing states to hire the firm, Strategic Allied Consulting. The RNC paid the company at least $3.1 million -- routed through the state parties of Florida, Nevada, Colorado, North Carolina and Virginia -- to register voters and run get-out-the-vote operations. Wisconsin and Ohio had not yet paid the firm for get-out-the-vote operations it was contracted to do."

Magic Mitt.  Clearly osmosis!

Romney On Economy After He's Elected - Business Insider: "He first addresses the stock market, saying that if it looks like he (Romney) is going to win, "the markets will be happy." But that if it looks like Obama is winning, the markets won't be happy.

Then he adds, right around the 50-second mark, that if he wins, the economy will start to rev up without even having to change any policies. Why? Because confidence will improve and investment capital will start flowing."

How Mitt Romney Sees The Crisis - Business Insider

How Mitt Romney Sees The Crisis - Business Insider: "When the full video was released, something we immediately flagged is the moment where he told supporters that if he were to be elected, the economy would start to improve right away, because there would be a groundswell of confidence, and businesses would start to invest.
As we said then, Mitt Romney is clearly of the belief that a major problem with the economy is just the man who is in the White House right now, and that merely switching that person to a CEO President would improve things."

McAllen, Texas and the high cost of health care : The New Yorker

McAllen, Texas and the high cost of health care : The New Yorker: "It is spring in McAllen, Texas. The morning sun is warm. The streets are lined with palm trees and pickup trucks. McAllen is in Hidalgo County, which has the lowest household income in the country, but it’s a border town, and a thriving foreign-trade zone has kept the unemployment rate below ten per cent. McAllen calls itself the Square Dance Capital of the World. “Lonesome Dove” was set around here.

McAllen has another distinction, too: it is one of the most expensive health-care markets in the country. Only Miami—which has much higher labor and living costs—spends more per person on health care. In 2006, Medicare spent fifteen thousand dollars per enrollee here, almost twice the national average. The income per capita is twelve thousand dollars. In other words, Medicare spends three thousand dollars more per person here than the average person earns."

Mitt Romney's Electoral College Map Has Few Paths - Business Insider: "On Wednesday, Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney dismissed concerns over a recent glut of bad swing-state polling that has left him in trouble in the near must-win: Ohio.

"I’m very pleased with some polls, less so with other polls, but frankly at this early stage, polls go up, polls go down," Romney told ABC's David Muir after a day of round-the-clock campaigning in the Buckeye State. "

Florida

Ohio

Virginia

Virginia is another state where things become complicated for Romney if he loses. Right now, it doesn't look great — the RealClearPolitics average shows Obama with a 4.5-point lead over Romney in the state.
If Romney loses here, he'll have to hang onto Ohio, Florida, New Hampshire, Iowa and Colorado as the most plausible path to victory. If Ohio keeps leaning as left as it has been lately, Romney will have to do something implausible — like steal away Michigan or Pennsylvania, two states where Obama has a huge advantage.

Delta Air Lines Inc. once again claimed the title as the airline collecting the most in baggage fees: nearly $430 million from January through June. The slightly larger United Airlines - part of United Continental Holdings Inc. - followed with $351 million in bag fees, according to a report from the Bureau of Transportation statistics released Tuesday.

Airlines started charging for a first checked suitcase in 2008 and the fees have climbed since. Airlines typically charge $25 each way for the first checked bag, $35 for the second bag and then various extra amounts for overweight or oversized bags.

Know-Nothing American History - The Daily Beast

I've been on this track for a while.  If you remember the Glenn Beck university he would put on historians who would relay an alternate telling of history.  Also, on his show he would constantly critique presidents from the past, and re-engineer history to make a weird point which had no base.

David Limbaugh has made a fortune, the list of titles are legion and suspicious.

Know-Nothing American History - The Daily Beast: "I know full well that this Jack Hitt piece in The New Yorker is satirical, but it hits close to home. When a movement increasingly derives its news from Fox and its history from partisan publishers -- especially ones with a massive financial incentive to portray their ideological opponents in terms that respectable people would find beyond the pale -- things get out of hand.

That's how you get books like David Limbaugh's "The Great Destroyer: Obama's War on the Republic" and Dinesh D'Souza's "2016: Obama's America." They're both utter nonsense, but they play perfectly to people who don't know any better."

Romney’s tax return comedy - Salon.com

  • Just claim the over payment on next year's tax returns!  Very craven, not smart at all.
  • Also, giving more money to charities (the LDS church or Ann's charities in Boston) doesn't make you benevolent  it means you manipulated the code for political advantage.
Those who don't know the tax schedule will say 'look at how much he donates' those who know the tax schedule will see it as a cold use of the deduction to misguide those same people.
Romney’s tax return comedy - Salon.com:

First, Mitt and Ann Romney donated a whole heck of a lot of money to charity in 2011 — $4,020,772, to be exact, or about 30 percent of their total income. But they chose only to claim $2.25 million of that total as charitable deductions, because, well, otherwise their overall tax burden would have been a little, shall we say, light.

From the campaign:
The Romneys’ generous charitable donations in 2011 would have significantly reduced their tax obligation for the year. The Romneys thus limited their deduction of charitable contributions to conform to the Governor’s statement in August, based upon the January estimate of income, that he paid at least 13% in income taxes in each of the last 10 years.
Without claiming the total legally possible deduction, Romney ended up paying an effective tax rate of 14.1 percent. If he’d claimed everything he had a right to, he would only have paid around 12.1 percent.

How Romney Packed The Univision Forum

How Romney Packed The Univision Forum:
But the enthusiasm gap may have been an optical illusion formed by a series of last-minute demands by the Romney campaign, according to Maria Elena Salinas, one of the Univision anchors who moderated the forums.

Salinas told BuzzFeed that tickets for each forum were divided between the network, the respective campaigns, and the University of Miami (which hosted the events) — and she said both campaigns initially agreed to keep the audience comprised mostly of students, in keeping with the events' education theme.
But after exhausting the few conservative groups on campus, the Romney camp realized there weren't enough sympathetic students to fill the stands on their night — so they told the network and university that if they weren't given an exemption to the students-only rule, they might have to "reschedule."
The organizers relented.

Alabama’s GOP Chair Bill Armistead Goes Birther | TPMMuckraker

Save the fact that it's in Alabama -
What has happened to conservatives, republican voters.  They have driven off the rails.

Alabama’s GOP Chair Bill Armistead Goes Birther | TPMMuckraker: "The head of the Alabama Republican Party this week threw his support behind one of the most far-fetched theories of the already bizarre birther movement.

Speaking to a group of GOP diehards on Wednesday in Fairhope, Ala., party Chair Bill Armistead raved about a film called “Dreams From My Real Father.” The movie claims President Obama’s grandfather was a CIA agent who convinced Barack Obama Sr. to marry his teenage daughter to hide the fact that she’d been secretly impregnated by a communist.

The Mobile Press-Register reported that Armistead’s comments came after he was asked by someone in the group about another film, “2016: Obama’s Presidency,” which also weaves elaborate theories about the president’s upbringing."

Mitt Romney's Housing Market Plan - Business Insider

Mitt Romney's Housing Market Plan - Business Insider: "This is honestly a sentence in his whitepaper on The Future Of Housing Policy:
The Romney-Ryan plan will completely end “too-big-to-fail” by reforming the GSEs.

No really. Romney and Ryan believe that "too-big-to-fail", which generally refers to the assumption that a collapse of a major Wall Street institution would be catastrophic to the overall economy, thus making a bailout imperative, would be solved by the reform of Fannie and Freddie. Or maybe Romney and Ryan believe that only Fannie and Freddie are too big to fail, and that the collapse of a mega-bank would be fine. Those are the only possible readings of that sentence."

Author Says We’re All Moochers | Here & Now: "I wake up in subsidized housing. I throw on a T-shirt made of subsidized cotton, brush my teeth with subsidized water and eat cereal made of subsidized grain. Soon the chaos begins, two hours of pillow forts, dance parties and other craziness with two hyper kids and two hyper Boston terriers, until our subsidized nanny arrives to watch our 2-year-old. My wife Cristina then drives to her subsidized job while listening to the subsidized news on public radio. I bike our 4-year-old to school on public roads, play tennis on a public court."

Romney's small donor decline - POLITICO.com Print View

Romney's small donor decline - POLITICO.com Print View: "Mitt Romney has a grassroots donor problem.

Romney’s selection of Paul Ryan as his vice presidential candidate was expected to energize small donors, who typically fork over modest amounts of money such as $5, $25 or $100.

But the cash Romney raised from small-dollar contributors went the wrong direction in August, as his campaign committee reported $9.4 million in “unitemized” donations – those $200 or less that don’t require disclosure of identifying information."

Romney awarded bonuses to top aides - POLITICO.com Print View: "Mitt Romney’s campaign took out a $20 million loan in August and ended the month with $38 million less in the bank than President Barack Obama.

At the same time, the campaign gave out about $200,000 in bonuses to senior employees just after the Republican National Convention, which ended with the candidate not getting much of a bounce in the polls."

In 2011, Romney Paid More Taxes Than He Had To - Business Insider

In 2011, Romney Paid More Taxes Than He Had To - Business Insider: "Mitt Romney's presidential campaign released his 2011 tax returns Friday afternoon, revealing that the Republican presidential candidate deliberately more in federal income taxes last year."

...

Regarding the newly-filed 2011 Tax Return:
  • ·         In 2011, the Romneys paid $1,935,708 in taxes on $13,696,951 in mostly investment income.
  • ·         The Romneys’ effective tax rate for 2011 was 14.1%.
  • ·         The Romneys donated $4,020,772 to charity in 2011, amounting to nearly 30% of their income.
  • ·         The Romneys claimed a deduction for $2.25 million of those charitable contributions.
  • ·         The Romneys’ generous charitable donations in 2011 would have significantly reduced their tax obligation for the year. The Romneys thus limited their deduction of charitable contributions to conform to the Governor's statement in August, based upon the January estimate of income, that he paid at least 13% in income taxes in each of the last 10 years.

When Mitt Romney Said You Couldn't Change Washington From The Inside

A note to Governor Romney – Stop jumping on the easy looking Obama issues.  They’re a trap.  The BO (Forward) campaign keeps doing it.  Stop falling for it.  First it was the Church mandate - you did the same in Massachusetts.  Second it was the assault weapons ban – you did the same in Massachusetts.  Third it was too many to name..  Now this, “You can’t change DC from the inside!“  Governor, they’ve mined (data mine) everything you’ve said.  Stop falling for the excitable issues.

Mitt Romney: Before and after

Mitt Romney appeared to be a touch more tanned during an TV interview for Spanish-language channel Univision on Wednesday, prompting suggestions the Republican leader had piled on the make up to make himself more appealing to Latino voters.

The make-up ‘mishap’ is particularly unfortunate as it comes in the wake of a leaked video of Romney saying he would have a better chance of being President if he had been "born of Mexican parents."

Did Mitt Romney Seriously Just Wear Brownface to Appear on Univision?

Holy shit, Brownface!

Did Mitt Romney Seriously Just Wear Brownface to Appear on Univision?: "Last night, Mitt Romney appeared on Univision to promote his flailing candidacy to a group of Americans that pretty strongly doesn't like him: Latinos. But wait a gosh darn second — Mittens looked suspiciously, dramatically tanner and oranger than he normally looks. Could it be that his makeup artist was trying to bronze him to the point of Latino relatability? Did Mitt Romney fucking seriously just wear brown makeup so Latin voters might think he's tan enough to support?"
