PolitiFact | Mitt Romney says 'Obamacare' adds trillions to the deficit

PolitiFact | Mitt Romney says 'Obamacare' adds trillions to the deficit: "How is it that a law can raise taxes and cut spending, but also add trillions to the deficit?

That was Mitt Romney’s claim after the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the core of the health care law on June 28, 2012.

"Obamacare raises taxes on the American people by approximately $500 billion. Obamacare cuts Medicare -- cuts Medicare by approximately $500 billion," Romney said. "And even with those cuts and tax increases, Obamacare adds trillions to our deficits and to our national debt, and pushes those obligations on to coming generations."

PolitiFact | Limbaugh, GOP have it wrong: Health care law is not the largest tax increase ever: "A silver lining for conservatives in the Supreme Court’s health care decision Thursday is that the court allowed the law to stand based on the idea that the individual mandate was a tax.

That news has Republicans and conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh bringing out an old -- and incorrect claim -- that the health care law constitutes the largest tax increase ever.

Can Obama's health care law survive without the individual mandate? - Political Hotsheet - CBS News: "Even if Supreme Court upheld the mandate, some question whether it's designed well enough to have any real impact. The fine for failing to purchase insurance will be phased in and will reach $695 per individual and $2,085 per family by 2016. That's an arguably marginal amount, compared to the cost of purchasing insurance.

In its first year, the fine is only $95. "It's like a parking ticket," warned Rother. "My concern is it won't be enough of an incentive to get people health insurance."

Antos contended that the IRS won't really enforce the law, leaving those fines uncollected. "A mandate without enforcement is not going to have any real effect," he said. "People are smart enough to figure it out.""

Rush Limbaugh Melts Down At Obamacare Supreme Court Decision - Business Insider

Rush Limbaugh Melts Down At Obamacare Supreme Court Decision - Business Insider: "Rush Limbaugh, as you might imagine, was not pleased at the Supreme Court's decision that upheld the Affordable Care Act on Thursday.
He railed against the Supreme Court on his radio show Thursday, blasting John Roberts and saying that America had "been betrayed and deceived by the Supreme Court. He said it was the "largest tax increase in the history of the world."
"What has been upheld here is fraud, and the Internal Revenue Service has just become Barack Obama's domestic army," Limbaugh said. "That is what we face now. We were deceived. Obamacare was a lie. It was a stealth tax on all Americans, and nobody knew it until today. Not officially. Obama told George Stephanopoulos it wasn't a tax. And Stephanopoulos was trouble-making for trying to suggest otherwise.""

Today’s decision is a blow to our freedoms. The Court should have protected our constitutional freedoms, but remember, it was the President that forced this law on us.The American people did not want or approve of Obamacare then, and they do not now.  Americans oppose it because it will decrease the quality of health care in America, raise taxes, cut Medicare, and break the bank.  All of this is still true. Lower benefit limits also would be illegal, along with caps on the number of outpatient therapy sessions or inpatient treatment days. Employees also would have to be covered for out-of-network mental health care if their plan includes out-of-network medical coverage.

The legislation, supported by the health insurance industry and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, "is a great compromise," says Katie Strong, director of congressional and public affairs for the Chamber."

NAMI also salutes the leadership of the sponsors of parity in Congress including Senators Pete Domenici (R-NM), Edward M. Kennedy (D-MA), Mike Enzi (R-WY) and Christopher Dodd (D-CT) and Representatives Patrick Kennedy (D-RI) and Jim Ramstad (R-MN).  Today NAMI also remembers the contributions of the late Senator Paul Wellstone (D-MN) in bringing parity forward.  After nearly 20 years, their efforts have resulted in mental illness treatment no longer being subject to 2nd class status in our health care system."

Host of Romney event favors gov’t spending on infrastructure, jobs, alternative energy - The Plum Line - The Washington Post:

Today, Mitt Romney campaigned in Virginia at a company called Carter Machinery. I just got off the phone with the company’s CEO, James Parker, who spoke at the event, and he shared some views that might seem surprising.
Parker favors heavy government spending on infrastructure, which he sees as a valid means of creating jobs, favors paying for such spending with a gas tax, sees the federal stimulus spending in his area as a plus, and favors government investment in alternative energy.
To be sure, Parker was also very critical of Obama, and said he thinks Obama’s specific stimulus bill and leadership had failed. But his views on the proper role of government spending in securing the country’s future suggest the debate is a bit more complex than Romney’s soundbites would have you believe.

Mont. GOP displays bullet-riddled 'Obama outhouse'

Isn’t it really time to say bluntly what all commentators and many citizens are not saying when stories come out about about this supposedly funny motif of some partisans seemingly suggest the assassinations of partisans on the other side in jokes, displays, etc.? Aren’t we inexorably moving to a day when a major figure of either political party is going to be killed because of the continued tolerance and unfettered enabling of this kind of “humor”?

No, don’t call it PC: call it “common sense.” Angry and hyperpartisan minds create things such as this; unhinged minds could be inspired by things such as this. Its latest incarnation comes in a display outhouse marked “Obama Presidential Library” at the Montana Republican convention, TPM reports:

the Daily Caller or the the Daily Heckler

The president of the White House Correspondents' Association has called today's "rude interruption" of President Obama by a Daily Caller reporter "discourteous," but said that the Daily Caller's status as a member for the White House in-town press pool is something that would need to be discussed by the WHCA board, of which she is a member.

"It was discourteous. It's not the way reporters who cover the White House conduct themselves," Caren Bohan, the current WHCA president and White House correspondent for Reuters, told POLITICO today, shortly after DC reporter Neil Munro shouted a question at the President while he was delivering remarks in the White House Rose Garden.

It continued McCain's diatribe this week against Adelson and the Supreme Court's decision in the Citizens United case, which prevented government regulation of individual and corporate contributions to political campaigns and aided the rise of so-called super PACs.

Socialists’ Parliamentary Victory Buttresses Hollande’s Power

PARIS — President François Hollande’s Socialists and their allies won an absolute majority in runoff parliamentary elections on Sunday, strengthening the hand of Mr. Hollande both at home and in Europe, where he is pressing for less austerity and more growth in the face of a deepening recession.

He will travel to the Group of 20 summit meeting in Mexico on Monday with his authority reinforced as a spokesman for the European left and a proponent for economic stimulus and job creation.

Mr. Hollande will also be able to keep a Socialist government and pass legislation with little difficulty, without having to rely on the far left, which is more antagonistic to the European Union. Nor will he need to rely on the support of the Greens.

According to projections from partial vote counts, the Socialists’ parliamentary bloc obtained 296 to 321 seats — considerably more than the 289 needed for a majority in the National Assembly. The Greens are expected to win 20 seats, and the far left is likely to take 10.

Greek Election Favors Pro-Bailout Party

Greek voters narrowly favored a pro-bailout party in parliamentary elections on Sunday, a result that is likely to calm world markets and ease fears that the country will leave the euro zone.

Official projections showed the conservative New Democracy party as coming in first, giving it the chance to collect enough support to form a pro-bailout coalition and keep Greece in the euro zone.

Late Sunday night, Alexis Tsipras, the leader of the leftist Syriza party, conceded the election and congratulated the conservative leader of New Democracy, Antonis Samaras. Syriza had called for a rejection of the loan deal that Greece had made with foreign creditors.

VERY INFORMATIVE!!

Need to Know’s medical correspondent, Dr. Emily Senay, travels to Massachusetts to examine how that state’s health care system is working six years after the legislature there adopted an individual mandate requiring individuals to buy health insurance and businesses to provide it or face fines.

The individual mandate is part of the federal healthcare plan championed by the Obama administration that is now under review by the U.S. Supreme Court. Massachusetts’s plan was adopted when GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney was that state’s governor.

Conservatism of Association

By using Association conservative news creates a template of discord towards certain people, groups, by using image location and words.

The image below is probably the best one presented today.  This picture links an 8 year-old in NY slashing another kid with a dark-skinned terrorist (recently killed by drone) with a scornful\nasty look from FLOTUS, and to rap it up BK launches a new bacon sundae which has nothing to do with the FLOTUS, but jabs at her focus on healthy eating.Association13Jun12_DR_01

In the next image a stock ‘file picture’ is pulled to associate the CinC with Joy Behar.  Behar is mostly likely commenting on Mitt Romney stating that we don’t need to spend more money on Fire fighters, Police, and Teachers (see automatic stabilizers).

Association13Jun12_DR_02

Last, and this is a little more involved, there is a stream of race baiting or race ploy-ing 1 - 2 refers to the AG, 4 –5 Spike Lee and ‘racist people’ unhappy (wait – Spike Lee is a racist and unhappy?), beneath the racist tag are 5 – 6 – 7 losing support among blacks, white support cracks, and Jewish support drops.

Association13Jun12_DR_03

This is just one day and how does one, who is not familiar with this Association principle, determine what is being done to influence thinking in conservative minds.  This should be obvious but not everyone is thinking at this level.

Maybe we should blame the Education system for not developing critical thinking skills.  At this point that is my assessment.

The Page by Mark Halperin | The Complete Romney Interview Transcript

The Page by Mark Halperin | The Complete Romney Interview Transcript: "Romney"

Romney: Well because, if you take a trillion dollars for instance, out of the first year of the federal budget, that would shrink GDP over 5%.  That is by definition throwing us into recession or depression.  So I’m not going to do that, of course.  What you do is you make adjustments on a basis that show, in the first year, actions that over time get you to a balanced budget.  So I’m not saying I’m going to come up with ideas five or ten years from now that get us to a balanced budget.  Instead I’m going to take action immediately by eliminating programs like Obamacare, which become more and more expensive down the road – by eliminating them, we get to a balanced budget.  And I’d do it in a way that does not have a huge reduction in the first year, but instead has an increasing reduction as time goes on, and given the growth of the economy, you don’t have a reduction in the overall scale of the GDP.  I don’t want to have us go into a recession in order to balance the budget.  I’d like to have us have high rates of growth at the same time we bring down federal spending, on, if you will, a ramp that’s affordable, but that does not cause us to enter into a economic decline.
