After meeting with pharma lobbyists, Trump drops promise to negotiate drug prices - Vox

After meeting with pharma lobbyists, Trump drops promise to negotiate drug prices - Vox: "A lot happened in the 2016 campaign, but one of the things Donald Trump did to win the election was shift to the left on a number of key issues — promising to avoid cuts in Social Security and Medicare benefits and adopting a longstanding Democratic pledge to let Medicare negotiate bulk discounts in the price it pays for prescription drugs.

Today, after a meeting with pharmaceutical industry lobbyists and executives, he abandoned that pledge, referring to an idea he supported as recently as three weeks ago as a form of “price fixing” that would hurt “smaller, younger companies.” Instead of getting tough, Trump’s new plan is that he’s “going to be lowering taxes” and “getting rid of regulations.”"  'via Blog this'

"I had personally never called my congressmen and senators before," said Phoebe Hopps, the Michigan coordinator for the Women's March. "It makes sense, especially calling Republican leaders and letting them know how important the Affordable Care Act is to your family, especially for those with pre-existing conditions."  via Blog this'

Trump’s team floats tax cuts that aren’t paid for - POLITICO: "Some Trump administration officials and Capitol Hill Republicans are discussing the possibility of passing sweeping tax cuts without offsetting revenue increases — an idea that threatens to balloon the deficit and undermine the GOP’s reputation as the party of fiscal discipline.

A number of Trump advisers in recent weeks have privately questioned whether tax reform needs to be “revenue neutral,” according to multiple people familiar with early-stage tax reform discussions. "  'via Blog this'

Pravda on the Checkout Line - POLITICO Magazine

Pravda on the Checkout Line - POLITICO Magazine: "The 2016 campaign hadn’t even begun when America’s supermarket tabloids picked their guy. “New Poll: Donald Trump’s The One!” the National Enquirer breathlessly announced in February 2015, long before the real estate developer was even a punchline in the political conversation.

As Trump’s unlikely run got underway that summer, the Enquirer kept rolling the drums, even publishing a September 2015 three-part series by Trump titled, imaginatively, “My Life Story.”"

Dylann Roof Said He ‘Shed a Tear’ for Himself, But Not the ‘Innocent People I Killed’ - The Daily Beast

Dylann Roof Said He ‘Shed a Tear’ for Himself, But Not the ‘Innocent People I Killed’ - The Daily Beast: "“I would like to make it crystal clear I do not regret what I did. I am not sorry I have not shed a tear for the innocent people I killed. I do feel sorry for the innocent white children forced to live in this sick country and I do feel sorry for the innocent white people that are killed daily at the hands of the lower races. I have shed a tear of self pity for myself. I feel pity that I had to do what I did in the first place. I feel pity that I had to give up my life because of a situation that should never have existed.”"
